Collaborations

Building lasting partnerships and community through collaboration!

We have teamed up with so many great brewers over the years donating yeast, time, and energy in support of meaningful causes: raising money for local charities, isolating unique yeast strains for a co-pitch batch, and co-promotional brews at national events. Contact us to inquire about partnering up for a brew day.

Wild Hawaiian Collab

Brewery: Lanikai Brewing Company– Kailua, HI
Style: Waialua Wild Hawaiian Ale fermented with A20 Citrus & a unique wild Brett strain

Steve Haumschild of Lanikai Brewing found a previously undiscovered brett strain from the skins of the organic Keitt mangos on a friend's farm in the town of Waialua on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. We helped isolate, ID, and prop the sample for a co-pitching into a pils malt base with Mandarina Bavaria + citrus hops. The result was nothing short of tasting the tropics with a nice lingering brett funkiness.

Cascade Lakes Brewing & Old Standby Brewing Collab

Helles for habitat
Helles

Strain(s): L09 Que Bueno Brew Date: 3/1/23 Release Date: 7/25/23 Packaged: Draft

Yakima Valley Hops & LINC Malt of Washington also donated raw ingredients to create what Ryan Schmiege, Cascade Lake’s brewmaster, calls ‘a lovely display of LINC Francin Pilsner malt and European hop varieties. The body offers clean bready flavors balanced with Tettnang and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. The Mistral hops used to dry hop give wonderful lemon and floral aromas.’

$1 from every pint benefited Bend/Redmond Habitat for Humanity.

Thanks again to Ryan at Old Standby Brewing for organizing another great charity collab!

SheBrew is a remarkable event that kicks off Women’s History Month in March at a festival in Portland, Oregon. The event includes a nationwide homebrewers’ competition, and a festival with dozens of commercial beers made by womxn in the local OR and WA beer industry.

The SheBrew Festival is not only a celebration of female brewers & cider makers, both amateur and professional, it is an event for all genders and ages honoring equality and supports all womxn and the LGBTQ community with proceeds to go to the Human Rights Campaign and the Oregon Brew Crew.

We look forward to collaborating with a local brewery every year to create a great beer for the festival.

This year we connected with Trap Door Brewing in Vancouver, WA to help them create a unique wit beer with toasted and ground whole green cardamom adding a spicy citrus note, and conditioned the beer on hibiscus flowers to bring out a beautiful pink color and bright fresh flavor.

A big thanks also goes to Mo.Masters for creating the awesomely fun graphics!

Gilgamesh Brewing & Old Standby Brewing Collab

Shareable Charitable Vienna Lager
Vienna Lager

Strain(s): L09 Que Bueno Brew Date: 5/19 Release Date: 7/7 Packaged: Draft

We had a great time at Gilgamesh on the brew day for this one. The resulting crispy lager hit the taps just in time for the hot weather to really kick in this summer.

A portion of the proceeds from this brew went to support the Marion-Polk Food Share, whose mission is to bring people together to end hunger and its root causes.

They distribute nutritious food for individuals and families to more than 100 local partners and  operate an urban farm and support a network of community gardens that connect people and their food, and mobilize community members to address systemic issues that lead to hunger.

Thanks again to Ryan from Old Standby Brewing for organizing this one!

Ale Apothecary & Old Standby Brewing Collab

Saison Blended with Barrel Aged Beer & Barrel Aged with Brett
Saison

Strain(s): B56 Rustic (Primary) & W15 Suburban Brett (Secondary) Brew Date: 4/13/23 Release Date: TBD Packaged: TBD

This will be an interesting one from the folks at Ale Apothecary.

A saison brewed with heather flowers, blended with a barrel aged beer after primary fermentation, then placed in a barrel with one of our Brett strains for a secondary fermentation. This beer will then age for a couple months.

Proceeds from this beer will benefit a homeless shelter in Bend called The Bethlehem Inn.

Big shout out to Ryan from Old Standby Brewing for organizing this great collab!
